Williamson (center, at microphones).

This page is a non-commercial webpage
to offer citizen criticism for Rhode Island Rep.
Timothy Williamson (D- West Warwick).
What's my beef with Williamson?
Well, Williamson seems to be using
his
elected position to benefit the casino special interests, when he
should be
doing the business of the entire electorate. He seems to really love
the
camera.
Tim Williamson is a state
representative, and he is also the solicitor
for the town of West Warwick, and Harrah's reimburses the town of West
Warwick for legal billings, and Williamson is one of the main
legislative proponents for a casino in West Warwick.
So, who does Williamson represent?
It's a very good question!
MAYBE:
The town of West Warwick? He is their
solicitor.
The people of the State of Rhode
Island? Well, he does sit in the RI
General Assembly, and I think they all take oaths to serve the public.
Harrah's? They reimburse legal
fees to the town of West Warwick and appear to be the main
funding source for the casino proposal. Their executive sits on the far
left in the above picture with Williamson. If you "follow the money"
in this proposal, most of it leads to them.
The Narragansett Indians? They are
also one of the players in the
casino, or maybe the principal "do nothing" beneficiary. Their chief
sits on the far right in the above picture.
Why do I care, and what right do I
have to be saying this?
Well, as a (now former)
citizen of
Rhode Island, this that means Williamson (and every other
elected
official) works for me.
Frankly, I wish I could fire
Williamson, because I don't like the job
he is doing. I don't think Williamson is sensitive to the conflict of
interest issue, which in my opinion is the #1 problem with government
in this state, but that is just my personal opinion. My personal opinion is that Williamson
SUCKS as an elected official.
What do you think, gentle reader? Is
this guy working for you --or is he
working for the fat cats?

- Masquerade
party on Smith Hill --February 9, 2006. Letter to the
editor of the Warwick Beacon. "Rep. Williamson has donned the hat
of chief shill for Harrah's while maintaining that amending the
Constitution for them is a neat idea. Amending city or town charters to
create spot zoning is bad enough, but this idea needs to wither on the
vine. Calling a casino economic development is like calling Jeffrey
Dahmer a food critic."

happened to be a CVS employee introduced legislation designed to help
CVS, that would be called a conflict of interest, so the governor
stands by his statement."
